The Fearnhamme School Confederation is a partnership of twelve schools in the Farnham area. The schools in our group range from Infant to Secondary and Special Educational Needs.
The current partners are:
All Saints Infant School – Tilford
St Andrews Infant School – Farnham
St Mary’s Infant School – Frensham
Punttenham Infant School – Puttenham
Waverley Abbey Junior School – Tilford
South Farnham Primary – Farnham
St Peter’s Primary – Farnham
Highfield South Farnham – Farnham
South Farnham Infants – Farnham
Weydon School – Farnham
The Abbey School – Farnham
The Ridgeway School – Farnham
The aim of the confederation is to work together in identifying opportunities for shared learning, provide innovative training across the schools, develop focus groups and networks and share expertise, facilities and resources. Currently we have several network groups that are continually developed to make sure they meet the needs of the schools and the staff involved.
Steering Group – This is the Management Group of the Confederation Schools with responsibility for the direction of the Confederation. Committee members are Head Teachers including the current Chair Julie Campbell, Head at All Saints Infant School and the coordinator Julie Aldridge. The group meets twice termly to initiate activities and produce an agenda for the Head Teachers to work towards.
Head Teacher Network – the Heads meet twice a term to review and plan joint activities and initiatives across the schools. External partners are also invited to attend when appropriate. These meetings can also be attended by representatives from the Local Authority.
SENCo Network – The SENCo representatives from the schools meet termly to discuss current hot topics and focus on one area for discussion at each meeting. This allows the group to share information and knowledge and to provide support to each other. The group is currently led by a SENCo called Sara Bedford. Sara also attends local authority meetings and briefs the group on information gathered there. Colleagues from the multi partnership teams are also invited to attend where appropriate.
Bursar Group – this group meets once a term and the focus is to share good practice, identify through discussion possible cost savings and look at common budgetary issues across the schools.
CPD Network – a key aim of the Confederation is to support the development of local solutions through CPD opportunities. As a partnership we can firstly establish if we can share what we are already doing in schools and if we can address joint training needs as a group. External training is also sourced and offered to all our schools. These joint ventures allow training to be bought in without the cost for each school being high. The group is made up of Head Teachers, the Chair and the coordinator.
Newly Qualified Teachers (NQT’S) – This is our newest network and has been formed to provide an environment for new teachers to meet half termly to share their thoughts, look at resources being used in each other’s schools and provide support to each other. The meetings will rotate around all the schools currently with new teachers allowing observations to take place.
Aside from all of our networks and working groups the Confederation offers a range of resources to our schools including:
- Parenting Support courses run three times per year
- An Enrichment Programme targeting pupils to take part in a range of activities.
- Fearnhammes Got Talent – a show to promote the awareness of special needs in our schools.
- A new Infant School Sports Association is currently being developed and will provide sporting opportunities to children in Years R to 2.
- Extension programmes run focusing on the transition of pupils from Year 6 to Year 7, specifically looking at core subjects. This involves teaching staff from all of our primaries and secondary school.
