Implementation; Co-Regulation

 

In order for our pupils to be ready to learn, engage and thrive in our school environment and our community, both now and in the future, we recognise the importance of their ability to regulate.

Our pupils are supported to regulate and develop their emotional literacy skills alongside our classroom adults through the Zones of Regulation. Across the school, our pupils are introduced to the Zones of Regulation within their classes where they will begin to be exposed to the different zones and the associated vocabulary.

Our staff work alongside our pupils to co-regulate; they help pupils to recognise which zone they are in at different points across the day. Pupils are then supported to access the appropriate tool dependent on their zone. Each of our pupils has an individualised tool kit which they are supported to use alongside an adult to help them to co-regulate when they are in different zones.
