Knowledge Progression

At the heart of learning at The Ridgeway is our Thinking Skills curriculum. This is a metacognitive progression that develops the fundamental skills within our learners so that aspire to live as rich and full a life as possible.

Through robust assessment systems, the school identifies the skills that have been secured, what priority learning areas are and where to take learning next.

Each level of the Thinking Skills Progression clearly builds upon previous learning, enabling learners to receive an ambitious curriculum that strives for the best individual outcomes within our four curriculum pillars of: Communication & Self-Advocacy, Independence & Life skills, Social & Emotional Wellbeing and Physical & Sensory Development.

The use of thinking skills is embedded across our teaching and learning approach, from target setting through to language and visuals within each classroom, it is synonymous with learning at The Ridgeway.
